Voice & Piano Lessons
I am a member of MTNA, Texas Music Teacher's Association and the Lubbock Music Teacher's Association.
Piano Lessons - I use a variety of method books (mostly Alfred, Piano Adventures and Wunderkeys) and online materials and printable books. I also use a special Kindergarten/Intro to Music curriculum for my younger students.
Voice lessons - based on the Kodaly teaching method (Do-re-mi style of learning). We will work on technique, tone, rhythm, sight singing…all kinds of fun stuff!
Studio holidays are based on local school calendars each year.
About me….
I grew up in Lubbock, TX, and graduated from Monterey High School. I have a degree in Performing Arts from South Plains College & Recording Industry Management from Middle Tennessee State University. I have been a pianist and singer for as long as I can remember. I was in the All-State Choir in high school. I performed all throughout college. I also worked in the country music business in Nashville, TN for several years after graduating from MTSU. I have over 10 years of training in both voice and piano.
I have a passion for instilling not only the formal knowledge of theory and musicianship, but the fun side of being able to take music to the next level. To write your own songs, learn popular songs using chord charts or by ear, to be able to play piano using improvisation…these are some of the fun skills that kids will use for a lifetime. After learning the foundation skills of piano and voice it is really great to see kids blossom when presented with the opportunity to learn new and different things. It takes a little while to get there because learning the language of music is not a quick thing, but those who do will fall in love with the joy of being able to express themselves in a totally unique way.
